Hey y’all.  I’m a GenX punk hippy Jesus freak, widow, mom of 2 strong, stubborn, beautiful young ladies, fairly new grandma, and retired public interest attorney.
I grew up in Riverdale, Georgia, attended both Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, starting out in mechanical engineering, moving to child and family development, and ending up in law.  I practiced in Georgia and Florida for 13 years, representing abused and neglected children, people with mental disabilities, survivors of domestic violence, and government agencies to get teachers out of the classroom for ethical violations.  I also taught Street Law at a private high school, judged mock trial competitions at the state level, and did bar committee work to review and edit law and civics textbooks.  I have a heart for people with disabilities, especially children.  After retirement, I moved back to this area, ending up in Newnan for good in 2011.

How did I end up in NCAA?  Well, my husband was a woodworker, and I started making diaper cakes for baby showers.  We did some arts and crafts markets together, and I started cross stitching again, which I had enjoyed in my 20’s.
I somehow ended up at the Christmas Market, and decided to join NCAA to support local artists in 2019.  I didn’t consider myself an artist, just a crafter.  But then I got some software that enabled me to make embroidery patterns out of photos, and I started stitching some crazy complicated portraits.  So now I do custom portraits of people, pets, and whatever else I find interesting.  It takes months to do one piece, so I rarely have any completely finished work.  I may end up with two or three pieces per year.  I also now stitch bookmarks, ornaments, greeting cards, and other small gifts.  I keep trying new things, like quilling, crochet, and felting, so maybe eventually I’ll have some actual finished items to show!
