Collage, Cartography & Sense of Place  ~  Storytelling & Mapping The Journey Of Our Ancestors.

Come join in on a collage making workshop with an emphasis on family genealogy & storytelling.  Any level of  artistic ability is perfect.
New Orleans based painter Deedra Ludwig, current artist in residence at  Gray Cottage, will guide you through the process & provide assistance.  Let’s explore mark making, maps & visual layers of texture to express the nature of a journey.
Collage materials, basic acrylic paints & brushes will be provided.
Participating workshop attendees please bring the following items –
*   A pair of scissors
*   Elmer’s Craft Glue or Elmer’s Extra Strength Glue Stick – available @ Michael’s
*   Optional – A paper map that relates to your family journey​ & sense of place
*   If you want to work on a surface other than paper,  please select an object that has a pourous surface that can be placed on a work table  – creativity encouraged,  possibly one of the following items:
*   A thrift shop painting you want re-purpose,  no larger than 25″ x 25″ square with no glass –
*   A dried gourd
*   A shoe or pair of shoes
*   A small drawer
*   A shoe box 
*   A small vintage suitcase
If you have special images for your creation please bring them.
